Affordable Accounting & Receipting Software Wanted

Hello, Fellow Library Staffers!

We are looking for affordable software, hopefully even use software we already have, to help us with our Friends donations. Does someone already have Excel spreadsheet set up for this, or something similar, and could share their database form and/or knowledge?

This software will allow us to input:
date, check #, amount, name, address, phone, email, type of donation

Type of donation will include:
Friends Straight Donation, Friends Dues (including whether it's for Family, Individual, Student, Sr. Citizen, Business or Lifetime for any of these categories) Friends Memorial, Friends Honorarium, Endowment Straight Donation, Endowment Honorarium, Endowment Memorial, etc.

Each type of donation requires a different type of notification so a pop-up screen should appear with the appropriate form, card and/or letter. The Endowment notifications will need to be numbered receipt letters/forms. The forms will have the name and address of the donor just entered and can be printed out, as well as envelopes or envelope labels.

Each type of donation will be totaled at the bottom of the column and some columns need to be totaled for a current balance at any given time.

It seems to me this could be done in Excel which most of us already have but I haven't worked with it enough to know. The software I looked at from TechSoup was either expensive, or couldn't be edited, or the support was expensive. If you can help please let us know!
